The Family that Restores Together

Restoring twenty acres of degraded woodland and wetland into a thriving cmix of wildflowers, native wetland plants, and new forest takes time and energy. It also takes a lot of help. I love walking in our big backyard with the kids but I may be guilty of using them for manual labor on some of those hikes. Luckily, there are plenty of restoration tasks kids can do quite easily. For example, my kids are usually eager to take a hack with the machete or use the scissors to lop off seed heads of plants we don’t want. Plus, after years of restorative work, we are able to sit back and enjoy the walks even me seeing the fruits of our labor live and in the flesh.
